FAKE NEWS OR FAITH NEWS, GOSSIP OR GOSPEL, RUMOR OR REVELATION: WHAT ARE WE TO SHARE?
While some Adventists are relaxed in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, they are ever ready to share any "google" or online news. Instead of looking for "fake" stories about the Pope, the Catholic Church and other contemporary issues, let's enthusiastically share the Good News we were given two thousand years ago. It is still the best news for humanity. And it will always turn out to be faith news, not fake news.
More then four thousand years ago, Isaiah, the gospel Prophet wrote "Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?" (Isaiah 53:1) Using Hebrew parallelism, Isaiah does not only indicate that we have a report (or news) to share, he also clearly shows that the revelation of the Divine Arm in our lives, depends on believing this report. So what is "our report?" Isaiah's interesting answer is given in following verses of the chapter. Of particular interest to me are verses three to five.
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:3-5)
The foregoing texts speak of Christ's substitutionary suffering and vicarious death for our sins.
Friends, this is the message to aggressively SHARE with the world. This is the truth that will set men free! IF YOU WISH TO COMMIT TO SHARING THIS NEWS, SHOW IT WITH YOUR COMMENT AND SHARE BELOW.
